A Seafood Haven in Ithilo nestled opposite the small fishing pier at the end of Ithilo bay on the beautiful Mani Peninsula. “ To Mikro Algeri” fish restaurant is a true gem that captures the essence of coastal Greek cuisine. From the moment we stepped into the charming, seafront taverna, we were enveloped by the warm hospitality of the staff and the tantalizing aroma of fresh seafood. The ambiance, with its rustic stone walls and breathtaking views of the bay in the Ionian Sea, set the perfect stage for what would be a memorable culinary journey. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the prawn pasta (garidomakaronada), a dish that deserves every ounce of praise it receives. The pasta was cooked to al dente perfection, tossed in a light yet flavorful sauce that allowed the natural sweetness of the plump, succulent prawns to shine. Each bite was a harmonious blend of a mild garlic and red pepper, fresh herbs, and a hint of citrus, with the prawns bursting with freshness that could only come from the morning’s catch. The dish was elevated by a delicate drizzle of local olive oil, which added a silky richness that lingered on the palate. It’s the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes and savor every mouthful, a true testament to the chef’s skill in balancing simplicity with sophistication. No meal here would be complete without indulging in their delicious dips, which were a revelation in themselves. Served with grilled, crusty bread and topped with olive oil and origanum. The tirokafteri (spicy cheese dip) was creamy and tangy, with just the right amount of paprika, while the skordalia had a bold garlic kick that paired beautifully with the seafood. The rest of the menu was equally impressive, with impeccably fresh octopus grilled to perfection and a selection of crisp, local wines that complemented the seafood beautifully. The service was attentive yet unobtrusive. This fish restaurant in Ithilo is a must-visit for anyone exploring the Mani Peninsula. The prawn pasta alone is worth the trip, and the delectable dips are the perfect introduction to the region’s bold flavors. Whether you’re a seafood aficionado or simply seeking a meal to remember, this taverna delivers on every front. We left with full hearts, satisfied palates, and a promise to return. Five stars without hesitation! We liked the place so much that we went again but unfortunately Google doesn’t allow two reviews for the same place from the same account, so I will just add our second experience here. Having already raved about the prawn pasta (garidomakaronada) and other delightful dishes in my first review, I couldn’t resist returning to here for another unforgettable dining experience. This second visit only solidified my love for this charming fish restaurant, and this time, I want to shine a spotlight on their exceptional fresh seafood offerings: the calamari, sardines, and small fried anchovies, known locally as gavro. The fresh calamari was a revelation—tender, perfectly fried, and bursting with the clean, briny essence of the sea. Each bite was a reminder of the restaurant’s commitment to sourcing the freshest catch. The sardines, also fresh and expertly prepared, were lightly charred to enhance their natural flavor, striking a perfect balance between smoky and delicate. But the real star of the show was the gavro—crisp, golden, and fried to perfection. These small anchovies were addictive, with just the right amount of saltiness to keep you reaching for more. Beyond the food, the service continues to impress. Theofylactos and Nikos welcomed us with genuine warmth and kindness, making us feel like family from the moment we arrived. Their attentive yet unobtrusive service elevated the entire experience, ensuring every detail was just right. This restaurant remains a gem in Ithilo, delivering not only outstanding seafood but also a heartfelt dining experience. If you’re in the Mani Peninsula, don’t miss the chance to savor their fresh calamari, sardines, and gavro—you won’t be disappointed!

We came here two days in a row as it was definitely the most delicious restaurant one could find in the Areopoli and Limeni area. It was also highly recommended by our hotel staff. The food tasted amazing and the staff were super friendly. We also enjoyed the gorgeous view and the company of some cute cats while eating.

The restaurant in Karavostasi area boasts a stunning view over the bay of Paralia Itilo, with Limeni in the background. There’s plenty of parking, and the restrooms are spotlessly clean! The service team is dedicated — they serve quickly, with a friendly attitude and a smile on their face. Now, the food: My eldest daughter really wanted linguine with shrimp, and for the first time, she found a restaurant where the pasta wasn't overcooked. The sauce, made with fresh tomatoes, was finger-licking good. Seeing her delighted reaction — she's a true food lover — someone else at our table ordered another shrimp pasta. We were 6 adults and 3 children, and we ordered nearly everything on the menu. The ingredients were fresh, perfectly cooked, and served in generous portions. And finally, what really stood out to me: the basket of toasted bread with olive oil that was brought to the table right away along with water, before we even saw the menu — plus a bottle of olive oil that stayed on the table the whole time, free of charge. There was a time when “psomaki” and abundant olive oil were a given in Greek tavernas, but mass tourism has made most places charge for them like they’re some exotic luxury — often over €2.50 per person. But not here. Here, we found the best quality-to-price ratio of any restaurant we visited during our week in the Mani region.

After about 1.5 months in Greece, To Micro Algeri may hold the spot as the best restaurant I’ve been to. I was unsure as some of the restaurants in the area can be rather touristy and not the highest quality, but everything here was STUNNINGLY good. Best Kalamari of my life (incredibly fresh tasting), incredible shrimp saganaki, and the small fried cheese pies (tyropidakia?) were unexpectedly one of my favourite things I had on the trip. All staff met us with a smile on their faces and seemed genuinely interested in us rather than the usual spiel you get from some staff. Can’t recommend enough!

This is a hidden gem of delicious traditional Greek food, you can tell that each dish is made with love and you can taste homemade flavors. Not only the food is amazing but the staff is mega wow, they are so respectful, kind and friendly. Thank you Niko!!! We have already come here twice since we are here in Limeni and we plan to return before we leave. Oh! And the views from the table, omg the views !!! If you are around, this is a must experience.
